EHS/HSE Specialist - Chemical Safety, Hazmat, Training/Compliance

Job Type : Direct Hire/Perm

Location: Albuquerque/Santa Fe, NM area ( Work is ONSITE, NO Hybrid/Remote options)

We are currently seeking an experience, established industrial EHS/HSE Specialist, ideally from a Chemical Hygiene, Chemical safety and/or Hazardous Materials/Hazmat background, for an up and coming industrial/manufacturing team in the Albuquerque area.

This is a role that would be ideal for those five ore more years, in a similar role, with an established and well balanced Safety and Environmental background, and a role in which the ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental health and safety (EHS) programs and chemical hygiene protocols to ensure regulatory compliance and promote a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures related to chemical hygiene and safety.
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and compliance issues.
Provide training and guidance to staff on chemical safety, proper handling, and emergency response procedures.
Monitor and assess the effectiveness of EHS programs and make recommendations for improvements.
Collaborate with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Investigate accidents and incidents, and prepare reports for management and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in EHS or chemical/Hazmat compliance, handling, processing oriented roles.
Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance related to environmental and safety standards.
Excellent communication and training skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Certifications in EHS or HSE (such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM) are a plus.
