Job Description
We need an experienced Automation Engineer with strong HMI/PLC programming skills to serve as Project Manager in our San Antonio office. This role involves managing project scope, schedule, and budget, and providing technical leadership to our engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and deploy PLC and HMI automation programming projects, troubleshooting as needed.
- Manage project timelines and budgets effectively.
- Collaborate with contractors and clients on software and hardware upgrades.
- Produce accurate reports and technical documents.
- Lead automation projects and oversee work on medium to large-scale projects.
- Supervise automation teams and mentor junior staff.
- Delegate tasks and ensure quality control.
- Handle project scheduling and budgeting.
- Deliver projects on time and within budget, contributing technical input to proposals and project team interviews.
- Build and maintain client relationships, promoting company initiatives and values.
- Demonstrate strong self-motivation, communication, and planning skills.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years' PLC/HMI programming experience, ideally in Automation/Programming, with exposure to water/wastewater projects preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one within 12 months of hire.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and deliver projects successfully and profitably.
- Strong time management, attention to detail, and communication skills.
- Ability to document system changes effectively.
- Knowledge of strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and staff coordination.
- Willingness to work in Dallas or San Antonio.
- Up to 20% travel required.
