Who you are:
Bachelors degree in engineering or similar discipline
10+ years of experience in aerospace/defense industry
Experience with new product introduction and/or integration
Ability and willing to travel up to 50%
What you will be doing:
*This position will require significant travel (up to 50%), mostly U.S. based but occasionally abroad.*
Work with the front-end acquisitions team, responsible for all manufacturing activities associated with the acquisition and transition of product lines.
Perform Due Diligence capabilities and risk assessment prior to acquisition of product lines.
Receive training on all aspects of manufacturing products from the OEM by traveling to OEM site and transitioning knowledge to manufacturing, including training personnel.
Identify any non-standard manufacturing processes associated with the products, develops mitigation plans, and sees them through implementation.
Identify and implement productivity, cost-reduction, and process improvement opportunities.
Transition all manufacturing responsibilities to sustainment Manufacturing Engineer within the responsible Business Units.
Responsible for the identification and transfer of manufacturing tooling/assets from the OEM location
Create and execute mitigation plans for all manufacturing assets that will not transfer from the OEM.
Develops Methods of Manufacture (MoM) and work instructions (Circuit Cams) based on the OEM work instructions with enhanced tribal knowledge obtained from OEM training.
Evaluates and loads time standards into Epicor for each routing step based on OEM historical data.
Supports make-in-house versus outsourcing decisions during part number uploads into Epicor.
Support first article builds through entire process including revisions to MoM and Circuit Cams.
Create or edit procedures and documentation through change management process directly related to acquired products.
Evaluate manufacturing tooling utilization to support target production rate capacity.
Identify all materials that are not part of OEM's parts list (typically consumables, paint, and labels) and works with the Supply Chain Strategist to get them on order prior to the inventory and asset transfer.
Work with the PTM and Test Engineer to create the floor layout to include additional workstations, hardware, computers, and works with the Supply Chain Strategist to order items as needed.
Support Environmental Health & Safety Assessment for incoming manufacturing equipment, products, processes, materials, adhesives, and chemicals.
Interface with management to present status, capital requests, or continuous improvement initiatives.
