Founded in 1980, we are an environmental consulting firm located in the San Diego area helping clients create valuable scientific knowledge while growing their business in a sustainable manner. Our projects are selected and implemented to manage the condition of natural resources through the procurement of scientific data in the marine space. 

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Scientist / Project Manager to lead our coastal ecosystems research initiatives. This role combines advanced scientific expertise with project management skills to drive impactful environmental consulting projects and strategic growth in marine ecosystems. The ideal person will come from a strong background of working with environmental consulting firms or government agencies that specialize in the marine space (NOAA, EPA, etc.), loves doing field sampling using an advanced SCUBA cert, and is available / interested in relocating to southern California! 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage research projects focused on coastal ecosystems, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Conduct field sampling and analysis of marine ecosystems, utilizing various remote sensing equipment.
  • Develop and implement project plans, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise in environmental consulting related to coastal and marine environments.
  • Identify opportunities for strategic growth and partnership development in coastal research areas.
  • Prepare and present research findings to clients, stakeholders, and at conferences.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Marine Biology, Environmental Science or related
  • Proven experience in project management within the environmental consulting sector
  • Strong knowledge of marine ecosystems and coastal management practices
  • Experience and knowledge working with NOAA, EPA, etc.
  • Experience with field sampling techniques and marine remote sensing equipment
  • Scuba certification is preferred and may be required for certain field activities
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team collaboration skills
